Five Weeks and Counting

The Myers family attended their birth class reunion last Friday and met some of the other little ones that were born in late '07 and early '08. Lucy is five weeks old and we estimate to be about 10 lbs of all muscle, and already out growing her newborn clothes. Every day is a new and fun adventure...

Movie Star Lucy Myers

Not sure Lucy is so hip on the sunglasses yet, but we'll keep trying. Bath time is quite a fun adventure for both Lucy and mom/dad ;-) She met her grandpa Gary and grandma Judy this last week and is having fun with them. While most babies love to be swaddled (and she does sometimes), Lucy prefers to have her hands stretched above her head while sleeping -- oh, so cute!!

Busy Busy Week

Thank you to all the Lucy admirers out there that have sent their well wishes and thoughtful gifts; you are way too generous! We've had an exciting week with G'ma Karen in town - first long car ride (to the airport and back), many walks to downtown Edmonds for morning coffee and post office drop-offs, introduction to the sounds of the ukulele or "uk" for short, and a few sleepless nights for mom/dad... This last week, Lucy also had lots of stop-in visitors (boy is she popular!!) and met more of mom/dad's friends. She is growing and changing daily.

Two Weeks Old (almost)

Doctors like to see newborns back to their birth weight at about two weeks old...well, Lucy passed up her birth weight of 6lbs 12 oz at day 12 weighing in at 7lbs 7oz! With her cheeks "filling out" mom/dad have spotted a dimple on her left side - she gets that from her dad :) The whole family is doing great - Lucy is more alert every day, mom/dad are getting more sleep, and Scout is finding new toys (Lucy's pacifier). Grandma Karen arrived from San Francisco today and is staying a week to spend QT with her first grandchild.

One Week Old

It's hard to believe, but Lucy is just over one week old now. Besides being masters at swaddling, mom/dad have also mastered diapers - changing 80+ diapers in just seven days! Our first delivery of clean cloth diapers ran out on Sunday and the next delivery wasn't scheduled to arrive until today (Tuesday)... good thing we had left over newborn huggies from the hospital. Needless to say, she's a good eater. Lucy has met lots of people in her first week in the world including all three great grandparents and great great aunt; and when she's not sleeping, she's paying close attention to the presidential primaries.

Lucy Comes Home

After two nights in the hospital, the family geared up for the long drive home, which took all of five minutes. Scout (the dog) finally gets to meet his little sister, and Lucy gets a first glimpse of her new home! Grandma Miriam stayed with us for two nights to help around the house which was very nice.

And Then There Were Three...

It was 05:10 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (01-21-08) when Lucille Addison Myers made her grand appearance. After 12 hours of labor at the hospital and one epidural later -- yes, after 7 cm dialated, Laura called the anestgesiology to room 706 for some relief -- Lucy joined the "petite" Myers family weighing in at 6lbs 12oz and 19" long. Everyone is doing well, and mom/dad are very excited to be a family of three now! We hope you enjoy the pics below and come back for future updates.
